2015 'DIEDRICH' SHIRAZ
Named after Jorg Gartelmann's grandfather Diedrich. The Diedrich is our icon Shiraz, sourced from a single vineyard in the Orange Wine Region, and provides more diversity in our range. Full bodied and rich.
This is a cold climate Vineyard producing intense flavours due to slower ripening. This vineyard just north of Orange often misses the late autumn rains and results in a very complex, savoury and intense Shiraz. The vineyard block is on reddish brown clay-loam mixed with sandstone and iron stones, providing good drainage and mineral input.
Matured for 18 months in a mixture of new and one to three year old 500 litre puncheons and 300 litre hogsheads. We used a mix of American and French oak barrels.

Tasting Notes
This soars with pretty aromas of florals, red berried fruits, a dusting of spice and equally rewarding on the palate. An elegant wine, medium-weighted with supple, sleek tannins, crisp, lemony acidity and plenty of joy in between. Really hard to put down.
Vintage
The Orange Wine Region in 2015 had a much drier February combining well with a very wet and cooler January to produce ideal results.
